Over the last 3 years KAPS has been working extensively with artists across Kangra and Chamba to promote Kangra miniature paintings. The Chitera school manged by KAPS has 2 master artists and 15 students under its patronage. We are proud to say that some of our students are fast climbing the learning curve and have achieved high level of skills in this art.
In our effort to revive this art, KAPS not only provides learning material on Kangra paintings but also purchases paintings from artists associated with our organisation. Despite financial constraints KAPS purchases paintings of our artists on a monthly basis. This helps our artists remain motivated and produce quality work month after month.
When the artists approach us with their paintings, our master artists and chief patrons do the initial grading of the paintings. The artists are then paid an upfront fee and the painting is added to our inventory. As of today KAPS has more than 90 paintings worth Rupees Ten Lakh in its inventory.
Besides paying an upfront fee, KAPS is also certifying the paintings by providing a certificate of authenticity for these paintings. Through this certification process we hope to build the confidence of our patrons so that they start seeing these paintings not just as an art but also as a potential investment.
